This summer, Broken Ground and Inside Edge Design are offering a two week Permaculture Design Course (PDC). Rooted in the teachings of Bill Mollison, David Holmgren, and Rosemary Morrow, students will receive the 72-hour core permaculture curriculum, and will also come away with skills to be practitioners in the areas of Edible Forest Gardening, Social Systems Design, Regenerative Agriculture, Community Development, Rural or Urban Homestead/Farm-scale Enterprise Planning, and Digital Mapping and Design Methods.
Warren Brush from Quail Springs Permaculture will be guest speaker. Warren brings 25 years of permaculture experience, both national and international, to the table.
Kareen Erbe (Broken Ground) is an experienced permaculture practitioner and has been teaching permaculture and gardening workshops through her business, Broken Ground, for 5 years. Jessica Peterson (Inside Edge Design) holds a Masters Degree in Population and Development Economics, a BA in Psychology, and possesses certifications in Gracious Space Facilitation, Non-Violent Communication, and Permaculture and Restoration Landscape Design. Caroline Wallace (Inside Edge Design) has a degree in Landscape Architecture and is certified in permaculture design. She and Jesse are the co-founders of Inside Edge Design and co-designed the 6th Ward Garden Park, the first public perennial edible park in MT, with Dave Jacke and the community of Helena. Chris Borton (Sage Mountain Center), a 4th generation builder, is the director and co-founder of Sage Mountain Center, an off-grid, sustainably designed educational facility located in Whitehall, MT. Brent Brock (HoloScene Wildlife Services) is a wildlife biologist and has over 30 years of professional experience in ecology and wildlife conservation, working for the Konza Biological Station, the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Craighead Institute and now his own business, HoloScene Wildlife Services. Allison Rooney (Cloud Nine Farm) and her family own and operate Cloud Nine Farm in Wilsall, Montana. Max Milton (Timeless Seeds) grew up in the San Francisco Bay area with summers at Lake Tahoe and on a ranch in Montana. Tim Southwell and Grant Shadden (ABC Acres) run ABC acres, an 80-acre permaculture and regenerative agriculture farm in the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana.
This will be a full immersion course, with lots of practical experience complementing lecture time.
