Okanogan Family Faire site, 11 miles east of Tonasket, WA
The nation’s largest & oldest barter faire.
The Okanogan Family Faire (aka Tonasket Barter Faire) has been held annually each Fall since 1974. Every now & then a Spring Faire is also held. 2017 is one of those years. Here is how it works. Only food vendors can set up on Wednesday. Thursday is open for general vendor set-up. By Thursday evening, the majority of the vendors are set up and the faire is in full swing. On Friday, hordes of campers show up all day and far into the night and swell the camp. There is a smaller surge of campers on Saturday. Lots of day people come on Friday and Saturday. Less so on Sunday. The majority of vendors pack up and leave on Sunday but there is always a sizable contingent staying over Sunday night. By Monday evening pretty much everyone is gone except the clean-up crew.
