This very first North American Permaculture Convergence offers a special opportunity to meet up to 1,000 permaculture movers and shakers from across North America to share our successes and strategize how to create a permaculture future.
People will have different reasons for attending NAPC. For me, I view NAPC as a tremendous networking opportunity to meet permaculture movers and shakers from across the continent. As one of the permaculture movement’s historians I am also excited to use NAPC as an opportunity to collect more permaculture history.
The permaculture movement in North America is huge and growing fast!

The following incomplete list gives you some idea of permaculture’s scope in North America. This is just the beginning of a North American Permaculture Directory that Michael Pilarski is working on which will be expanded at the NAPC with everyone’s help. The eventual directory will be much expanded from what you see here and will include city, website, contact info, and names of people involved. Inclusion in the following list is not meant to be an endorsement, nor is absence meant to be a slight. This is just what I could pull together at the moment.

MICHAEL “SKEETER” PILARSKI is a life-long student of plants and earth repair. His farming career started in 2nd grade and his organic farming career began in 1972 at age 25. Michael founded Friends of the Trees Society in 1978 and took his first permaculture design course in 1982. Since 1988 he has taught 36 permaculture design courses in the US and abroad. His specialties include earth repair, agriculture, seed collecting, nursery sales, tree planting, fruit picking, permaculture, agroforestry, forestry, ethnobotany, medicinal herb growing, hoeing and wildcrafting. He has hands-on experience with over 1000 species of plants. He is a prolific gathering organizer and likes group singing.
