A message for Earth-friendly folks, The Ecosystem Restoration Camps are having a membership drive and I (Michael Pilarski) would like to put in a good word for them.
Thanks to all the people who attended the June 14 Soil Conference in Chimacum. Great people excited about soil! Most of them are, or have been, farmers. Michael and Ashley put together a delicious lunch and eating and chatting lasted till 12:30. We brainstormed a list of topics to consider. Biochar got the most air time and most topics were only briefly discussed. Some people had to leave early.
A chorus of birdsong woke me up at dawn today, as it often does. Such enthusiasm and beauty in their songs as they greet the new day and the sun! It struck me that they were praising the sun and thanking it. The scientific materialists say it is just a biological urge to mark their territory. I say it is the sound of a sentient being. The sound of joyfulness for the new day.
Hi. I'm Michael Pilarski and I was touring around the Kaua`i and Hawai`i islands in April and May, 2018, looking at agroforestry systems. In this video, I'm going to show you what agroforestry systems look like; what characterizes them. I'm thrilled that I get to do it with my good friend Paul Massey who is the manager and steward of the splendid Kaua`i Food Forest.
I cry for the world a lot. How can you live in this world and not cry? Do you live under a bushel basket? Or perhaps you only read the mainstream media? Or perhaps you think that your lot lies with the oppressors? Perhaps you think your fate doesn’t rely on a healthy Earth?
“The Hoop” is one of the terms to describe traditional people’s yearly round of harvesting activities. Here are the main medicinal herbs I harvested last year in the order that I harvested them. I am making my 2018 calendar and needed to know my Eastern Washington wildcrafting schedule.
A curious thing about H. sapiens is that we are clever enough to document — in exquisite detail — various trends that portend the collapse of modern civilization, yet not nearly smart enough to extricate ourselves from our self-induced predicament.
