One of the tragedies of the world is the export of the Western schooling system worldwide to change cultures. A great film about the damage we are doing to ancient cultures around the world. Including First Nations tribes in North America.
I recently watched this documentary, 'Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock,' in Port Angeles, WA with about 50 people at the Lower Elwha Klallam tribal center. It was very powerful. I went with my friend Terry D. who spent 100 days at Standing Rock. This should be on mainstream television, but of course it won't be. America, wake up!
As I prepare for the 2016 Northwest Permaculture Convergence I ponder the words of Penny Livingston, who was passing through my new home-town of Port Townsend yesterday. She said “I’m so over the talking heads conferences, listening to one speaker after the other. The main thing is the networking.”
Nobody likes to hear news of impending doom, but perhaps if enough Americans are aware of what is happening we might avoid doom. I have been following Dmitry Orlov for about 5 years now and consider him one of the most astute world commentators at this time. I have been following the Saker for about 2 years now. I consider him one of the best sources of information on the Ukraine, the Middle East and Russia. I recommend following both of their websites and reading this article which they have both signed on to.
Some conferences specialize in having a small number of workshops with big audience sizes. The MHG&MC specializes in having a large number of workshops (and panels) with smaller group sizes so that more people get to talk and share. More interactive. MHG&MC will have plenary speakers and big workshops, but it will also have lots of small workshops.
